Community Involvement

Greenlee supports the following organizations:

American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk is an event that Greenlee participates in each year.  This wonderful cause unites communities to commemorate those who have battled breast cancer, informs people how they can reduce their risk, and empowers neighborhoods to join the fight against the disease.  Last Fall Greenlee nearly raised $5,000 and had over a dozen employees participate in the 4 mile walk.  Our contributions helped fund the search for breast cancer causes, cures, and treatments; as well as provided free resources and support for breast cancer patients and caregivers.  We encourage everyone to participate in this great event and show that we are beating cancer!

Keeping Northern Illinois Beautiful Clothing Drive
Keeping Northern Illinois Beautiful Inc. is a private, non-government, non-profit organization that is committed to educating and involving individuals in creative solutions that care for our Stateline community environment.  According to their website, 85% of textiles are thrown in the trash every year.  In order to keep these textiles from winding up in landfills, the organization hosts 3 clothing drives in the Rockford area every year where all donating items are redistributed to needy families in the US and Third World countries.  Last year Greenlee collected over 700 pounds of textiles for this event and plans to increase our goal every year.

United Way
Greenlee Textron has a long history of community involvement and support. Our most significant events are our annual United Way campaigns held in multiple cities across the United States to support the local communities in which we live and work. The largest of these campaigns is held in Rockford, IL in support of the Rock River Valley chapter of the United Way.
In 2011, Greenlee donated over $57,000 to the organization and had one of the highest levels of Leadership giving in the community, with 12% of the employee base (25 employees) donating over $500 annually.

Working together, we continue to provide the United Way the means to deliver beneficial programs to children, adults, and the elderly; helping to invest in our communities across the United States.
